If you sell alcohol, put on regulated entertainment (eg live music, theatre or cinema ), or sell hot food or drink after 11.00pm, you need a licence under the Licensing Act 2003. The Licensing Act 2003 comes into force on 24th November 2005 and replaces the Licensing Act 1964. It makes sweeping changes to licences required and the application process. It is an offence to carry on licensable activities without the relevant licence.
